A better material by design.
encircol materials carry a relative environmental advantage built into their origin - not claimed after the fact. Here is where that advantage comes from.

specification.
Materials used in construction, energy and manufacturing are not chosen because they sound responsible. They are chosen because they work. They must be processable, repeatable, reliable, safe, certifiable and commercially relevant.
encircol begins from that reality - not from a sustainability campaign, but from an engineering discipline.

BioPRO® is not a concept.
It is certified and in commercial production - proven across aviation, automotive and mass transit interiors through Scottish Leather Group.
The same technology is now being applied to engineered material formats for demanding industrial applications - tested, processable, form-fitting.
Learn about BioPRO®Material advantages.
Not sustainability statements added after the fact - properties that arise from where the material comes from and how it is made.
Traceable supply chain
98%+ of raw material is sourced from UK and Ireland farms with high Animal Protection Index ratings. Every hide in the supply chain is traceable to its farm of origin - through cattle movement documentation, licensed abattoir records, and SLG's own tannery tracking systems.
By-product, not virgin resource
encircol materials start from a collagen stream that arises as a by-product of the food and agricultural industries. No dedicated land use, no virgin extraction. The raw material already exists - we engineer it into something of higher value.
Natural chemistry
Collagen is a structural protein - a natural building block that in certain applications can reduce reliance on petrochemical binders and synthetic precursors found in conventional alternatives. Natural protein content replacing synthetic inputs, not added to them.
Sourcing & traceability
Where the raw material comes from.
Over 98% of raw material used in the encircol supply chain is sourced from farms in the UK and Ireland - territories with some of the world's highest Animal Protection Index ratings. Sourcing is local, not global.
SLG operates within the Quality Meat Scotland framework - a globally recognised standard for whole-of-life, whole-of-supply-chain assurance. Every hide is traceable to its farm of origin using British Cattle Movement Service documentation, licensed abattoir records, and SLG's own tannery tracking systems.

Quality Meat Scotland assured
QMS is a global pioneer of quality assurance with whole-of-life supply chain standards.
Farm-to-facility traceability
Traceable to farm of origin using cattle movement documentation and tannery tracking systems.
No dedicated land use
The collagen feedstock is a by-product of existing food and agricultural production - no additional land is farmed for encircol materials.
Regenerative agriculture partnerships
SLG works with farming partners adopting regenerative practices: topsoil regeneration, biodiversity improvement, and enhanced water cycles.
