The technology
Collagen, engineered to perform.
BioPRO® is a proprietary material technology that applies precision process chemistry, engineering rigour and form-fitting capability to the collagen stream - the by-product of leather manufacturing. The result is a range of engineered bio materials with performance characteristics competitive with conventional synthetic alternatives.
Where conventional materials engineering starts from synthetic precursors, BioPRO® starts from a natural structural protein. The collagen matrix provides inherent tensile strength, thermal stability and form-fitting capability - characteristics that process chemistry then refines for each application.

BioPRO® is not characterised by a single attribute. The combination of natural composition, process chemistry and manufacturing capability is what makes it relevant to demanding industrial applications.
Natural collagen composition
BioPRO® is built on the collagen protein structure - a natural, high-performance building block with inherent tensile strength, thermal stability, and form-fitting capability. Natural composition is a functional advantage, not just a sustainability claim.
Process chemistry precision
Proprietary process chemistry controls the cross-linking, structure and surface properties of the collagen matrix. This precision determines the final material's mechanical characteristics and allows tuning for specific application requirements.
Form-fitting capability
BioPRO® technology supports complex form-fitting - enabling materials to be produced in shaped formats that conform to tooling and mould geometry. Critical for construction, automotive and aviation applications where flat sheet alone is insufficient.
Process-compatible by design
encircol materials derived from BioPRO® technology are designed for standard industrial processing - injection moulding, compression, shaped formats. Not a laboratory sample - a manufacturable material that fits existing production infrastructure.

Relative environmental advantage
Starting from a collagen by-product rather than a synthetic or virgin resource means the material carries a lower embodied carbon potential relative to a range of incumbent formats - subject to formal LCA of each specific application.
